September is National Yoga Month
Make this the month to Learn Yoga.
Have you thought about trying yoga lately? It’s a fun alternative to high-impact exercise and offers just as many health benefits, such as:
• Decreased stress
• Improved hand-eye coordination
• Enhanced concentration
• Pain management
• Better sleep
• Improved flexibility
• Lower blood pressure
• Strengthened bones and joints
• Weight loss
Yoga realigns and rebalances your body on a regular basis. When your body is finely tuned, your chances for injuries and illnesses decrease. The practice of yoga involves performing a variety of poses, called asanas, along with breathing exercises or meditation to cleanse and detoxify your body. These actions increase blood circulation.
Regular practice of stretches, twists, bends and inversions – the basic movements of yoga poses – also restore strength and stamina to the body.
Are you out of shape or new to yoga? Don’t let that stop you. Many of the poses involved in yoga can be altered for beginners.Start out slowly and you will likely be surprised at how far you can come in just a few weeks.
If you are trying to lose weight, add yoga with aerobic exercise and weight training. Along with a diet filled with whole grains, protein, fruits and vegetables. You should be able to see (and feel) the difference in about a month.
Yoga can be practiced by anyone, at any fitness level, at any age, pretty much anywhere.

Be Kitchen Smart
The below few tips can save you from getting sick.
** Cook meat thoroughly and use a food thermometer to make sure it's hot enough to kill bacteria.
** Wash anything that has been in contact with raw meat, poultry, or eggs, including your hands, before touching other foods.
** Use separate plates and cutting boards for raw and cooked food, and separate boards for each type of food (only half of all Americans do this, according to an International Food Information Council Foundation survey).
** Refrigerate leftovers within two hours.
** Remove and throw away the outer layers of lettuce and cabbage heads; rub all fresh fruits and vegetables under cool running water to loosen dirt and germs. Rinse for about 10 seconds, then blot with a paper towel.

7 Ways to Keep Your Brain Sharp and Youthful
Around the time we hit 30, our brains begin a slow, steady downward trajectory, or so popular wisdom would have it.
But cognitive decline is by no means an inescapable side effect of aging. In fact, according to a flurry of new reports, you can counteract age-related changes in the brain with a surprisingly simple regimen of activities guaranteed to nurture and fortify your mental musclepower. Here are seven easy ways to keep your brain quick, sharp, and bristling with youthful vigor.
1. Google Often
When you search the Internet, you engage key centers in your brain that control decision-making and complex reasoning.
And these few clicks may be more mentally stimulating than reading, say UCLA scientists. Their studies found that Internet searching uses neural circuitry that's not activated during reading--but only in people with prior Internet experience. MRI results showed almost 3 times more brain activity in regular Internet searchers than in first-timers, suggesting that repeated Googling can be a great way to build cognitive strength over time.
Tip: Spend around 20 minutes a few days a week searching topics you've always wanted to learn more about—regardless of how seemingly frivolous: Whether you're researching a celebrity's latest pratfalls or musical harmony, the benefits to your brain are the same.
2. Exercise
Yes, exercise can stave off or delay dementia—but did you know it can actually reverse brain aging too?
A team from the University of Illinois' Beckman Institute recently reviewed dozens of past studies and found that aerobic exercise boosts not only speed and sharpness of thought but also the volume of brain tissue. As little as 50 minutes of brisk walking 3 times a week was found to have this brain-expanding effect.
Tip: For an added boost, walk in the park: University of Michigan researchers found that volunteers whose course took them through a tree-filled setting performed 20% better on memory and attention tests than those who walked downtown.
3. Brush and Floss
Oral health is clearly linked to brain health, according to a team of British psychiatrists and dentists.
After studying thousands of subjects ages 20 to 59, they found that gingivitis and periodontal disease were associated with worse cognitive function throughout adult life—not just in later years.
Tip: Follow your dentist's advice—floss daily and brush your teeth for 2 minutes at least once a day.
4. Drink Sparingly
Limiting cocktails is beneficial for cognitive function.
Keep your alcohol consumption within the safe and healthful limit: no more than one drink a day. The more alcohol a person drinks, the smaller his or her total brain volume becomes, according to a recent Wellesley College study. The link between drinking and reduced brain volume was stronger in women—probably because smaller people are more susceptible to alcohol's effects.
Tip: If you like a glass of white wine with dinner, make a spritzer by replacing some of the wine with sparkling water. You'll cut your intake even more.
5. Eat Blueberries
New research shows that the purple-hued fruits may help sharpen your thought processes.
After National Institute on Aging and Tufts University researchers injected male rats with kainic acid to simulate the oxidative stress that occurs with aging, rats that had been fed a diet containing 2% blueberry extract did better navigating a maze than rats that didn't get the compound. In another study, the same researchers found that rats that ate blueberries showed increased cell growth in the hippocampus region of the brain. The researchers theorize that anthocyanin—the dark blue pigment found in blueberries—is responsible for these cognitive changes; it contains chemicals that may cross the blood-brain barrier and lodge in regions that govern learning and memory.
Tip: Stock up on blueberries when they're on sale, and sprinkle them over your cereal or yogurt or fold them into your smoothie. Off-season, buy them frozen; they're every bit as nutritious as fresh.
6. Do Puzzles
Amazingly, you'll knock a decade off your cognitive age.
In a University of Alabama study of nearly 3,000 older men and women, those who participated in 10 60-to 75-minute sessions of brain-boosting exercise sharpened their mental abilities so much that their brains performed like those of people more than 10 years younger.
Tip: Start small—whip out a booklet of basic puzzles when you're riding to work on the train or waiting in a long checkout line. As your skills improve, graduate to more challenging brainteasers.
7. Meditate
More than just a great stress reliever, meditation can also enhance your brain’s gray matter
Participants in a new study from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston appear to have experienced growth in the cortex, an area of the brain that controls memory, language, and sensory processing. In addition, meditators in a University of Kentucky study performed better than their non-meditating counterparts on a series of mental acuity tests.
Tip: Make the practice a regular habit—the participants in a recent study meditated an average of 40 minutes a day. But you can start with 15 on your lunch break or before you leave for work. Sit upright, close your eyes, and focus on whatever you're experiencing in the present moment, whether it's birds chirping in the distance or just the sound of your own breathing.

Healthier Food Choices
A healthier alternative to giving into your sweet tooth is munching on some grapes, pineapple, cherries or berries. You can also try raisins or cranberries and Sugarless candy.
If you feel guilty giving in, make sure you have plenty of healthy, sweet snacks in your refrerator and cabinets. This will make it easier for you to make a healthier choice.
The food choices you make, can affect your health. Improving our health can be as simple as adding a variety of grains, fruit and vegetables to our diet. Maintaining a diet that is low in saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol. Your beverage choice should be water or low sugar and sodium content.
We can control our waistline and our health by monitoring our portion size. Do you still 'supersize'? If you must eat fast food, you can still be in control. Eat smaller hamburgers or chicken sandwiches and order your salad dressing on the side. Order fruit, low fat milk or 100% fruit juice...don't forget, you can pick water!
Tips:
*Eat BEFORE going grocery shopping
*Downsize your meal portions
*Eat s l o w l y, so your brain gets the message that your stomach is full before you overeat
*When dining out, eat half your meal and split your dessert
*If available on the menu, pick the small or medium portion

Understanding Your Cycle ~ Part 2
Days 15-26
This week is known for its high blood levels of progesterone. This hormone is responsible for building up the uterine lining. It also affects our brain function as it brings about the feelings of calm and clear headedness. This would be a great week to reflect, read, explore your interests and evaluate short/long term goals.
If in your 20’s-30’s you have monthly progesterone surges during these early reproductive years which accelerates the burning of stored fat during exercise. You should add variety to your workouts during this week. Progesterone also increases production of pain-killing endorphins. Young women can step up the intensity of their workouts for maximum results.
If in your 40’s, this is the week to give into your chocolate cravings! During perimenopause, declining estrogen production can allow progesterone to become overly dominant. This can trigger mood swings and other symptoms. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids, which is a powerful antioxidant that has a mild estrogen like effect. It also contains phenylethylamine, which is a plant compound that will elevate your mood. It is said that a single serving of dark chocolate can chase away the blues.
If in your 50’s, your estrogen is naturally diminishing, so you should snack on soy nuts, 2 tablespoons of tofu or have 8 oz of soy milk daily. Soy contains phytoestrogens which will elevate your mood, decrease your appetite and food cravings and enhance skin firming collagen production. Soy is also a proven way to reduce night sweats, hot flashes and vaginal dryness in about 50% of women.
Days 27 and 28
When there is an absence of a fertilized egg, the ovaries suppress production of all three major hormones. By the end of day 28, levels have returned to their starting point. Your roller coaster ride is over. This is a good time to meditate, engage in something spiritual
Maybe after reading Parts 1 and 2 of Understanding Your Cycle, it has helped you to actually have a Happy Period and enhance your health and happiness.

Delcuttering Your Home, Your Life and Your Chakras
I have posted on my other blogs how important it is to declutter your life and your home. Spring is the perfect time to do this. A time when energy is renewed, life blossoms. De-cluttering will bring about a more healthier you and a healthier environment.
You can see obvious clutter in your home if you just walk from room to room, but did you know this clutter causes your Chakras to be cluttered or blocked? Take a tour of your home,so you can see which area needs to be decluttered.
Below you will see which area of your home is associated with your Chakras
· Crown Chakra: Attic, Roof
· Brow Chakra: Den, Home Office, Windows
· Throat Chakra: Living Room, Family Room
· Heart Chakra: Kitchen, Dining Areas
· Solar Plexus Chakra: Bathrooms, Personal Spaces
· Sacral Chakra: Master Bedroom
· Root Chakra: Basement, Crawl Spaces
· Aura: Porches, Decks, Landscaping, Garages
Get cleaning and organize each room of your house. Have your family members participate. Even children should have some responsibility of chores. Focus on one room at a time and do not proceed to the next room until you are completely finished with the cleaning, are organized and of course de-cluttered.
Since the kitchen is considered the heart of the home, this may be the first room to start de-cluttering. This is also the ‘heart’ chakra as well. Start with what is in sight by washing (or dusting) what is on the counters, table, appliances, sink, stove top etc…then go inside the cabinets. Throw out all expired products. Reorganize the goods you have left. Clean your oven, refrigerator, light fixtures and lastly, wash the walls, floors and curtains. Ahhhh, all done and your heart chakra will thank you.
Read some tips about de-cluttering your life at my blog by going HERE
One you have decluttered your life and home, you may want to enhance this pleasant feeling by reading Eric Maisel's book entitled Ten Zen Seconds: Twelve Incantations for Purpose, Power, and Calm
He teaches breath awareness to help you balance and align your chakra energy system. Using the incantations below, you will feel centered and balanced. Repeat each of the twelve incantation ten times. Inhale deeply 5 seconds and then exhale slowly for 5 seconds.

Heathguru Answers Your Questions
I remember back when I was pregnant I had so many questions. I was young and did not know what to expect. Sure, people were telling me this and that, but the questions I kept in my mind were never really answered. I didn't feel my Mom was comfortable talking about my pregnancy. My goodness, the subject of sex was never even mentioned.
Looking back, I did have the most easy pregnancy. I didn't gain much weight. I looked like I swallowed a basketball. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have any morning sickness. I was able to eat what I wanted, when I wanted and was never bothered by something repeating on me, upset stomach, cramps or diarrhea.
As my body went through the many changes, I just accepted each one. Sure I wondered why was I always in the bathroom. How much urine is in me? Why am I so tired? But I found I really couldn't sleep. I just went along month after month with the idea that I am going through this because I am pregnant. That's it, don't question it...just accept it. I guess it would have helped me to have explanations.
I remember I was a couple weeks into my ninth month. My mom and I went to visit my grandmother and great grandmother. We were enjoying our visit, but throughout the day I was feeling 'pressure'.I kept this to myself because once again, I figured I am suppose to feel this. I kept getting up to go to the bathroom...with each trip to the bathroom, a few drops of urine escaped. Ok I'm good, I thought. As long as I don't pee my pants, I'm fine. After about the 5th trip, my great grandmother (who spoke Italian) started to get excited and I couldn't understand what was going on. My grandmother was then asking why I was getting up so much. As I explained, my Mom was now nervous and told me my water is probably breaking. My water? What? We were about 40 minutes away from home and another 15 from the hospital. Call the doctor they were all shouting. Ok...now my fear is settling in. What's happening? Am I about to have this baby? They were explaining to me about the danger of a dry birth. By this time, my head was spinning and feeling like a robot, I just got in the car and was driven to the hospital. All ended well. We made it to the hospital in time and a few hours later, I was a Mom with a healthy baby boy.
With a first pregnancy, I believe all women have questions and possibly fear of what to expect. Getting information, having all your questions answered and knowing what to expect would probably help throughout the nine months. If you do not have someone to turn to for this information or maybe you feel embarrassed to ask, here's a great website to get the information you need.

Can You Remember?
Scientists say that recognition memory for faces is unaffected by sleep loss. A person who has not slept for as much as 35 hours can perform as well as someone who is not sleep deprived.
The area of the brain that controls temporal memory can be affected by prolonged sleep loss and/or ageing.
Give your Mind some exercise. Here's a little test to see how well you 'remember'. There are two parts - A and B, and each part will have 12 photos of faces. You only have a short time, 4 seconds, to see each face before the program moves to the next face. Part A will begin and when that is finished you can start Part B. When Part B is finished, the test will begin.
Take the Face Recognition Test. See how well you do. I was pleasantly surprised on how well I scored on my first try.

The Main Uses of Noni Juice
I have already explained how Noni juice boosts the immune system, but there are other areas in which it is said Noni helps.
The noni tree has been called the painkiller and headache tree. Noni helps to reduce headaches, which includes migraines and tension type headaches. Noni can also be used to help you with back/neck pain and muscular/nerve pain.
I read at The Total Health Shop website that according to studies from the journal Planta Medica (Analgesic and Behavorial Effects of Morinda Citrifolia; pg 430-434; Oct 1990), Organic Noni Juice was found to be 75% as effective as morphine sulphate in relieving pain without the toxic side effects of morphine. Noni is also non addictive.
Noni acts and fights against bacteria and fungus. The active compounds in the noni plant are said to be plant steroids.
Noni juice contains many antioxidants and results of many tests performed, showed that noni has much better antioxidant acitivity than many others did.
One of my favorite readers and commentors on my blogs, Suzen, from Erasing The Bored, said it best in a comment she left. I wanted to share it with all of you.
Suzen said,
"I'm adding Noni juice to my daily regime. Thanks for this information. I know a lot of people are looking for quick fixes and don't get it. One product/food alone is not the answer, but a well blended daily intake of healthy nutrients is the best preventative medicine available."
Our bodies DO need a variety of healthy nutrients to help keep it healthy and heal. Just one product or food is not the answer.

What Type of Conditions Can Be Helped By Noni Juice?
It is said that Noni has helped many health conditions. Noni is not a miracle and cannot help any condition without the help of our own body.
Noni supports our immune system and that helps our system to work better. Our immune system has the capability to cure itself, using aids we provide. Researchers of the University of Hawaii discovered that there was a polysaccharide compound (6-D-glucopyranose pentaacetate) found in Noni that increases the ability of our immune system to produce chemicals that enhance the killing power of white blood cells.
White blood cells are known to kill cancer cells, but they also kill other things. They defend us against viruses, bacteria, yeast, amoeba, parasites and other types of invaders.
So Noni enhances or boosts our bodies power to attack unwanted invaders. If one experiences any type of health condition, it is advised to see a physician. If you consider taking Noni or a herb of any kind, this should also be discussed with your physician.
Dr. Schechter, director of the Natural Healing Institute in California, is conducting clinical trials to see if Noni stimulates the production of T-cells in the immune system. T-cells play a vital role in fighting against disease.
Noni also has been linked to fighting many types of bacteria and inhibits pre- cancer function plus the growth of cancer tumors by allowing abnormal cells to function more normally.

What is Emu Oil?
If you are looking for a natural product that can treat a variety of conditions you may want to consider Emu Oil. This product can be used for aging skin to stretch marks, sunburn relief, and chronic pain management.
Emu oil is an oil made from the fat of the emu, which is a bird native to Australia. It is a complete neutral lipid. Emu Oil is approximately 70%unsaturated fatty acids: mono-unsaturated omega-9 fatty acid, omega-6 fatty acid and omega-3 fatty acid.
These ingredients makes it highly penetrating to the skin.
It has been used for thousands of years for the treatment of burns, wounds, bruises, and as a pain reliever for bone, muscle, and joint disorders. There is some evidence that suggests the oil has medicinal benefits due to its strong anti-inflammatory properties.
It is frequently used topically to soften skin and is found in ointments for dry cracked heels. Studies have shown this oil aids in reducing scar formation. More uses for Emu Oil are: healing burn wounds, muscle sprains, arthritis, foot fungus, eczema and redness of the face.
Recently the cosmetic industry have included Emu Oil in their anti-aging products. This is because Emu oil is an excellent moisturizer and can re-hydrate the skin. It aids in cell rejuvenation, giving the skin a youthful and healthier appearance.
According to Progressive Emu (http://www.proemu.com), which specializes in Emu Oil products, you should never consider a product if it does not carry the American Emu Association certification seal on the packaging. The products should also be tested by the American Oil Chemist Society, which means a certified chemist has certified the product meets the specifications for the Emu Oil fully refined trade rules.
So with all of its' anti-inflammatory, healing properties and omega oils, I believe Emu Oil aids in good health all around. At Progressive Emu you can find a variety of products that are certified: 100% Progressive Emu Oil, Skin and Body Lotions,Sports Cream and Glucosamine Cream which provides relief from inflamed joints and sore muscles. Since it is a cream and not an oral pain reliever, it does not pass through the gastrointestinal tract, so you will not have stomach discomfort.
The Gel caps they offer contain Omega 6 and Omega 3 fatty acids. They are to be taken orally and help stimulate skin and hair growth, maintaining bone health, regulate metabolism, maintain reproductive capability, brain function, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Omega 3 stimulates blood circulation and has shown to lower blood pressure and help rheumatoid arthritis.
If your body needs help, Emu Oil might be the natural product to turn to.

Health Benefits Of Noni Juice
Last March, I was introduced to Acai berry juice by a friend of mine.
I then wrote a series of posts to make my readers aware of the benefits of this amazing juice. See those posts by going Here
In doing some research and also by visiting the Total Health Shop for my products, I found another juice that also has amazing health benefits. By the way, I have found the best prices for these products is on The Total Health Shop. If you do your own comparison shopping, please let me know if you find better deals.
Since being diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, I really do try to drink as much fruit, vegetable and these other organic juices as I can to help manage this disease. I find they help maintain my immune system plus I get the additional health benefits.
This series of posts will be about the Benefits of Organic_Tahitian_Noni_Juice.
This, I hope, will give you a better understanding about Noni Juice.
Since the Morinda Citrifolia tree or Noni, is found in Southeast Asia, cultures of the tropics have been aware of the fruit of this tree and its benefits for years and years.
Noni Juice was being used to cleanse and purify their entire system, used as a defense against illness, help aid digestion, heal abrasions, reduce swelling, inflammation and reduce pain.
Noni Juice has also been credited with helping to increase mental clarity and attention span.
When you drink quality Noni Juice, meaning fresh fruit, not diluted and properly processed, the benefits this juice can produce are amazing.
It can support our immune system's ability to fight disease and infection.
Helps our Circulatory system, tissues, and cells. Noni Juice contains antioxidants that help rid the body of harmful free radicals.
Noni Juice aids with proper digestion and helps you absorb more nutrients at the cellular level.
If you decide to try Noni Juice, you can not expect immediate change. You need to allow time for the juice to work its magic and your body to get used to the change. Everyone is different and it depends on your overall health when you begin drinking Noni juice.

IF YOU TRY, YOU CAN MAKE IT.
You can't be beaten at anything, until you quit in your own mind.
There is no failure except in your not trying.
There is no defeat except from within.
You have no real insurmountable barrier except your own inherent weakness of purpose. The odds are with you if you keep on trying.
Consider yourself on a very long journey.
Sustain your personal vision of success until you achieve it.
In the end, you can fail only if you don't try.
Winning isn't everything, but wanting to is.
Success is a road that's paved with perseverance.

How Well Do You Sleep?
If you have trouble falling asleep or toss and turn all night, you are not alone. Millions of people do not get a good nights sleep. I sometimes find myself not feeling refreshed upon awakening and that truly affects my day. My mind is off, my body is achy.
Simple changes we can make will bring us better sleep. Our mind, body and soul will benefit.
Regular day exercise can help sleep. Believe it or not, as little as twenty to thirty minutes of activity during the day helps. Exercising close to bed time actually stimulates the body. Keep a regular bedtime schedule, including weekends. Overall sleep will be better if you do this.
Our mind and body associate 'light' with being awake and the opposite for sleep.
Your bedroom should be quiet, dark and a comfortable temperature with proper ventilation.
Make your bedroom the place for sleep. Don't associate your bed with work. Do you sometimes balance your checkbook on the bed while the TV is on? or finish that work you've brought home? Your bedroom should be the place where you go to relax, to sleep.
What about your bed? Is it large enough? Can you stretch out and turn comfortably or are you cramped? All these factors affect your quality of sleep. I usually wake up with aches in my back, so I know a new bed and mattress is a must. Shopping for beds has me stumped. There are so many choices. Does it matter what a bed looks like? I just want my bed to appeal to me. This way I want to be in it!
Surfing the web, I came across Time4SleepBeds. The choices are overwhelming: Leather Beds,Wooden Beds, beds for children, Metal Beds,French Style Beds,Antique Style Beds, to name a few. Then there's the decision of picking the mattress. I know it will be better for my back to pick a firm mattress. Maybe with a pillow top. I now use an egg crate on top of the mattress to make my back feel better, but my mattress is so old, that I'm not truly benefiting from it.
Does anyone have recommendations on what type of bed or mattress helps with back issues? If you also have some tips to getting a better night's sleep, please do share.

Eat These 8 Foods For Your Health
My friend from work let me borrow this great book called, Eat This, Not That. It was jam packed with easy to understand information about food. As the title suggests, it gives you information on what to eat vs. what not to eat. Like when you go into a restaurant or fast food place…it gives information (calories, fat etc…) on the food choices you have, so you can make a better choice based on grams of fat, sodium etc. For the size of this book (small), I couldn’t believe how many restaurants, fast food places, coffee shops etc this book included.
What really blew me away was this fact: One chicken marsala dish at The Olive Garden contained 86 grams of fat. Ok, so I thought it would be a high number, but 86?! Wow…then you have to include everything else you’ve eaten during the day, so your fat intake is probably what you should have for an entire week.
According to this book, eating healthy shouldn’t be so difficult. Along with making smart food choices, if you include these 8 foods everyday, it will boost your eating ‘health’.
Ø Spinach: is a rich source of plant based omega-3’s, folate, lutein and a noted muscle builder. Spinach helps reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and osteoporosis. Folate increases blood flow to protect you against age related sexual issues and lutein fights macular degeneration. Aim for 1 cup fresh or ½ cup cooked spinach each day. You could also substitute kale, bok choy or romaine lettuce for spinach
Ø Yogurt: contains millions of probiotic organisms that reinforce beneficial bacteria in your body. This helps to boost your immune system and protects you against cancer. Make sure the yogurt you’re eating states on the label: live & active cultures. Aim for 1 cup each day
Ø Tomatoes: Red are best because they contain more antioxidant lycopene, which decreases your risk of bladder, lung, prostate, skin and stomach cancers, as well as reduce the risk of coronary artery disease. Aim for about 8 red cherry tomatoes or a glass of tomato juice a day. You can substitute red watermelon, pink grapefruit, Japanese persimmon, papaya or guva for tomatoes.
Ø Carrots: they are associated with reducing a wide range of cancers, as well as risk an/or severity of inflammatory conditions (asthma, arthritis). Aim for ½ cup each day. You can substitute sweet potato, pumkin, butternut squash, yellow bell pepper or mango.
Ø Blueberries: they help prevent cancer, diabetes and age related memory changes. They are rich in vitamin c, which boosts cardiovascular health. Aim for 1 cup a day or ½ cup frozen or dried.
Ø Black Beans: All beans are good for your heart, but black beans boost your brain power, which is due to the anthocyanins and antioxidant compounds it contains. Aim for ½ cup per day. You can substitute peas, lentils, pinto, kidney, fava, or lima beans.
Ø Walnuts: Contains more heart healthy omega 3’s than salmon and has more anti-inflammortary polyphenols than red wine and packs half as much muscle building protein as chicken. Just 7 nuts per day. You can substitute almonds, peanuts, pistachios, macadamia or hazelnuts.
Ø Oats: Contains soluble fiber which lowers the risk of heart disease, but do contain a lot of carbs. These carbs release those sugars slowly due to the fiber, but also because oats contain grams of protein. Aim for ½ cup per day. Can substitute quinoa, flaxseed or wild rice.
Here’s a power nutrient rich smoothie recipe:
Blend 1 cup low fat yogurt, 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, 1 cup carrot juice and 1 cup fresh baby spinach…That's it! enjoy...

Eat For Your Eyes and Brain Boosters
Eating For Your Eyes
I have read that people who ate two servings of fish weekly benefited 50% decrease in the risk of age related degeneration. For eye health, it is suggested your diet contains eggs, leafy greens, broccoli, winter squash and Brussels sprouts. These contain antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin, as well as vitamin C and E, zinc and beta carotene.
Brain Boosters
If you keep your heart healthy, you are keeping your brain healthy. I’ve mentioned before how Omega 3 fatty acids and whole grains are good for your heart…but they are good for your brain and mental health too. Research shows that diets rich in Vitamin C and E are associated with lower levels of cognitive impairment in aging. Eating a lot of fruits and Vitamin C can also reduce the risk of stroke.
Keeping your mind sharp, can be as easy as Vitamins B12, C, E and folate. In the lean protein of turkey you will get Vitamin B12 and folate.
Turkey & Wild Mushroom Hash Cakes
2 cups chopped shiitake mushrooms caps (about 4 oz)
1 garlic clove, minced
2 cups chopped cooked turkey breast
2 cups mashed cooked baking potatoes
3/4 cups panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) divided
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions
1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh thyme
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon canola oil
Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add mushrooms and garlic to pan and saute 5 minutes. Sir frequently. Combine mushroom mixture, turkey, potatoes, 1/4 cup panko and next 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Divide mixture into 8 equal portions, shaping each into 1/2 inch think patty. Refrigerate 10 minutes. Dredge patties in remaining 1/2 cup panko.
Heat 1 1/2 teaspoons oil in large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add 4 patties, cook 2 minutes on each side. Repeat with remaining patties.
Broccoli with Garlic & Red Pepper
Heat 1 tablespoon canola oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper and 2 minced garlic cloves, saute 30 seconds. Add 1/2 cup water and 1 pound trimmed broccoli, saute 2 minutes. Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook 10 minutes.
Compliment recipes above with some cranberry sauce.

Part 2 - Feng Shui Financial Power Spots
Did you know there are Financial power spots within any space?
Prosperity issues are associated with the back left corner of any space. If you stand at your front door and face into the house ~ your wealth area is at the back of the house on the left-hand side.
To find the wealth area of any room:: facing in from the doorway, it's the corner area in the back of the room on the left-hand side.
Will you find and locate the wealth areas at your office, living room, kitchen, and/or bedroom? Now that you can find your money power spots, here are some tips to apply feng shui to those areas:
Clean out any clutter. Getting rid of clutter is one of the most powerful ways to shift energy and allow the energy to move freely.
Fix anything that is broken. If it does not work and if you can’t fix it, remove it so the money spots will work properly.
Use symbols of prosperity. A bowl of coins that you add your spare change into it every day, a "lucky bamboo" plant, or anything that symbolizes success and prosperity to you.
Use colors green and purple. Green symbolizes vitality and growth and purple is the color of wealth.
If you neglect your money, it will neglect you, so balance your checkbook monthly and pay your bills on time.
Clean the clutter out of your purse and wallet. If your money is not organized and is just crunched any old way, it will be as though you don’t value money.
Take a few moments every day to think about all the good things that happened to you and express gratitude for what you have received.
The Feng Shui wealth area is considered "fortunate blessings”. The more you notice, appreciate, and express gratitude for blessings received, no matter how small, the more good things will come your way, including money.

Being Thankful on Thanksgiving
Today as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and friends, will you truly take time out to reflect on what you are thankful for?
I have been doing that quite often this year. Pretty much on a daily basis...being thankful. For my health, for my life, for all I have, my family and friends, the opportunities that come my way and the love that surrounds me.
Abundance can be brought into your life if you declare to the universe that you are thankful. This can easily be done on a daily basis. I find that I'm in a better mood when I take time to appreciate something that makes me happy and be thankful for it. My heart seems to fill with happiness...
What are you thankful for?
I think many, many people take for granted what they have in their life. Maybe focusing only on the negatives...the problems, the stresses, the little things that may annoy or aggravate you. We might forget what we have and appreciate them.
Count your blessings. Take a moment each day and be thankful for something in your life. As you're driving in your car or sitting quietly by yourself, even while watching TV... just take a minute and be thankful.
As you see something that excites you or makes you feel good, as you smell food cooking, drive to work, come home to family, enjoying the company of friends or even your pet, your many possessions, your health and so on...be thankful!
Some people are not blessed as you and I are. Many have worse problems or live in worse conditions and/or simply do not have all that we have.
Take a break during your day...starting today...and be thankful and count your blessings...ask the universe for more of what makes you happy. Be positive and say...I like this...bring more more!
May you all enjoy your Thanksgiving. Many blessings to you all
